Lin Onus exhibition

Exhibition dates: 30 October - 23 November 2003

'Lin Onus was a man ahead of his time; he explored through his art the personal, public and political fundamentals of reconciliation. He died prematurely on 24 October 1996 at the age of 47 and is widely acknowledged as a pioneer of the Aboriginal art movement in urban Australia. As an artist and activist of extraordinary versatility and innovation, he addressed the political, social and artistic concerns of his people and painted himself into Australian art history.' Ref: Extract by Margo Neale, from the Lin Onus exhibition catalogue, Savill Galleries, 2003.
